Katie Wethman, Managing Director

Katie Wethman is the founder and lead agent of the My Move DMV team and one of the most experienced real estate professionals serving Northern Virginia, Washington DC, and Maryland. With a background as both a CPA and an MBA, Katie brings a rare combination of financial expertise, negotiation skill, and market knowledge to every client. Her training matters because buying or selling a home is often the largest financial decision most people will ever make.
Katie graduated summa cum laude from James Madison University with degrees in Accounting and Finance. She began her career in public accounting, earned her CPA license, and later completed her MBA at the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia. Before entering real estate, she worked at Freddie Mac, the Corporate Executive Board, and Deloitte Consulting. This experience shaped her analytical approach to pricing, valuation, risk, and long-term financial planning in residential real estate.
Katie is licensed in Virginia, Washington DC, and Maryland. She is an active member of the National Association of Realtors, the Virginia Association of Realtors, and the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors. She has served on the Board of Directors for MRIS, the regional Multiple Listing Service, and on the Board of Directors for NVAR. She is also a Certified Home Rescue Expert and has helped many clients navigate distressed property and short sale situations.
Katie has been quoted as a real estate expert in the Washington Post, Washington Examiner, Bankrate, The Street, and Forbes. Under her leadership, My Move DMV has closed more than $940 million in sales volume in over 780 transactions. Her team specializes in helping both buyers and sellers in Northern Virginia, DC, and Maryland, including first-time buyers, move-up buyers, downsizers, and investors.
For more than 30 years Katie has lived and worked in the Washington DC metro area. She focuses on providing clear guidance from the first conversation through settlement and long after the transaction closes. Her client-first, education-based approach has made her a trusted advisor throughout Northern Virginia and the DC region. She teaches free homebuyer classes in Arlington, Washington DC, and Montgomery County and is known for breaking down complex financial and market concepts in a way that is easy to understand. Her business is built on repeat clients and referrals who value her advice, market insight, and long-term commitment to client success.
Katie’s goal is simple: help every buyer and seller make confident, well-informed real estate decisions and build wealth through smart home ownership.
